Miranda Hilton, Managing Director
Miranda is British born as an expatriate in Kuwait originally and educated through to postgraduate level in Law in the UK. Having trained as a lawyer, she entered the world of Legal Executive Search and has over 15 years’ experience consulting to leading law firms and corporations around the world.
In 2004, Miranda set up Spencer Scott Hilton in Australia where she spent 4 years before relocating to the Middle East, responding to the significant demand which was in the region as an emerging market with nascent legal teams.
The selection of clients on whose behalf Miranda has acted include global law firms, major listed and private entities, and banks in sourcing senior counsel through a process of proactive targeted search. She has lived in the UK, Australia, Dubai and now Singapore and has sourced lawyers across the world, with a focus on Australia and Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
Her experience to date encompasses strategic consulting on the proposed growth of a team, firm merger, team acquisition, or the development of a new office or new practice area; sourcing for law firms senior practitioners at Partner, Senior Associate or Special Counsel level; sourcing General Counsel, Company Secretaries, Policy Analysts and Senior and Legal Counsel for corporations and providing global search services sourcing lawyers from overseas jurisdictions. In addition, Miranda is regularly called upon by senior practitioners in the legal market for career consulting advice providing support from building their profile through to directly assisting them with a move, domestically or globally.

Acted for major global law firm providing consulting, strategic advice and search services in looking to establish a local law offering in Singapore. Coordinated and managed the acquisition of a team of partners across a variety of disciplines through to completion and full integration.
Acted for a major construction contractor to source senior counsel to manage key legal functions in India, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Acted for major construction contractor to source over 30 lawyers for its national in-house legal team over a period of 4 years.
Acted for a well-established national Australian law firm in consulting, planning and sourcing a team acquisition to establish a new office. Role involved working with the firm’s Board and Managing Partner structuring and managing the project from inception through to completion.
Acted for a number of key clients globally in assisting them to research, engage, source and integrate senior practitioners in key areas of strategic growth.
Acted for a global firm investigating prospects for them to set up an office and offering in Australia. Provided strategic research and market intelligence about competitors in their sector and managed set-up process from inception to completion, including sourcing support staff where needed.

David Edwards, Director
David has had a distinguished legal career to date, having over 45 years’ experience as a qualified solicitor. Currently based in Singapore, David has worked as a Partner and senior lawyer in private practice and in-house, as well as 25 years in the British Foreign office including acting as Deputy AG of Hong Kong. David is on the Panel of Mediators of the Singapore Mediation Centre, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre Panel of Accredited Mediators and the US-China Business Mediation Panel. He specialises in mediating construction and commercial disputes. A summary of his career highlights are summarised below:
2002 and 2005: Chief Legal Counsel to BSF China Company Limited (a joint venture of Bechtel, Sinopec Engineering and Foster Wheeler) that provides engineering, procurement, project and construction management services to the SHELL/CNOOC USD 4.5 billion Nanhai Petrochemicals Project in Guangdong Province, China.
1997 to 2002: Based in Singapore as Vice President and General-Counsel to Bechtel Asia Pacific, having previously held similar responsibilities for Bechtel in Europe. In total, he was a senior lawyer with Bechtel for over 10 years and was involved in Projects in Asia, Oceana, Europe and the Middle East.
1990 to 1995: Deputy Attorney-General of Hong Kong.
Pre 1990: a distinguished 25 year legal career in the British Foreign Office. He served as Legal Adviser successively to the British Embassy, Bonn, the UK Mission to the UN, New York and the British Embassy, Washington DC. He was Deputy Legal Adviser to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1989. Mr. Edwards was General-Counsel and Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria between 1977 and 1980.
In addition, from 2007 to 2015, David was Adjunct Professor at the Singapore Management University, teaching Ethics, Corporate Responsibility and Good Governance on the MBA course.
